Family
Jason's great-great uncle was P.T Barnum. Great-grandfather founded the New York School of Interior Design. Grandfather, Pete Whiton, studied music under Casadesus & Roger Sessions, and composed operas and contemporary classical music, including The Bottle Imp with libretto by William Meredith. Grandmother, Jean Whiton, is the retired principal flutist of the Greenwich Symphony. Maternal grandfather, James Barnum, founded Barnum Communications, a successful ad agency in New York that specialized in medical accounts.

Photography
Jason graduated from The Putney School in 1983 and is now a teacher in the Art Department there. Classroom Portraits
Jason's father (Michael) and uncle (Paul) are also photographers and they have exhibited together.
Jason lived and photographed in Japan for over four years.
